Luna looks set to light up the Regency
With a top-quality entry for the Premier Greyhound Racing Regency and Coral Sussex Cup at Hove, both events are expected to live up to expectations once again and there could be a spot of value in the ante-post markets.
Magical Luna does face an extremely tough first round assignment, but is a bitch who has acquitted herself with huge credit since being taken on her travels at the highest level and ran a blinder in defeat in a recent trial stake.
What made that particular effort even better is that was her first sighting of the track and with normal improvement expected to come for that, Kim Billingham’s charge looks the type that can keep on qualifying.
Consistency hasn’t been one of Cooladerry Dust’s strong points, but there is no doubting he is a dog blessed with a consummate amount of pace. He underlined that when running riot in the semi-finals of the Coronation Cup at Romford and gives the impression that this stiff 695m trip will be right up his street. On that basis Nathan Hunt’s charge is worth including as he has the ability to post a quick time at any given moment.
2023 Greyhound Of The Year Droopys Clue and defending champ Candolim Monsoon rightly head the ante-post market for the Sussex Cup, but this is a railer heavy competition and with the likelihood of there being some hazardous trap draws going forward, it might pay to side with something that might stay out of harm’s way.
King Combs is a dog that has always been hard to predict due to his style of running as he does lack a vital yard of early pace. However, he more than makes up for the lost ground in the second half of his races and the fact he does have the ability to quicken-up at a vital stage of a race makes him an E/W play.

Ferocious early pace will be the name of the game in this year’s Pall Mall at Oxford and there is a plethora of those types in this year’s event over the 450m trip at Oxford.
The nice run to the first turn really does play to the strengths of those with brute early speed and Aero Sacundai certainly advertised his claims when claiming some decent scalps in a trial stake. He ran the opening bends extremely smoothly considering that was his first look round and Richie Taberner’s charge can storm into the semi-finals from a plum draw bang on the rails in heat two.
There are only three bitches to have made the cut in the 36-runner event, but Druids Say Go is more than capable of putting the gents firmly in their place. She really thrives on her racing over 400m at Romford and the Golden Jacket finalist showed that she could be equally effective around this venue with a smooth prep trial. Patrick Janssens game sort can emerge with the lead off the second bend and prove tough to contain thereafter.
